Clun Valley to Bishop’s Castle
Head west from Craven Arms into the Clun Valley, then turn north towards Bishop’s Castle for a point-to-point drive through the quieter southwestern corner of Shropshire. Clun makes a worthwhile break along the way, with castle ruins above the river. Keep the itinerary unhurried and leave time for the countryside between the towns.

Highlights along the way
Clun Castle
The ruined castle above the River Clun is the principal optional stop on this drive. Park lawfully in the town and check the current visitor guidance before exploring on foot.
Before you set off
Expect rural bends, village speed limits and occasional slow-moving agricultural traffic. The castle visit is on foot and is not a drive into the castle grounds. Check visitor access separately before planning a stop. Driving times exclude stops and live traffic. The named route points are road reference points, not approved parking places. Arrange lawful parking for visits, keep junctions and passing places clear, and check current closures and restrictions before travelling. Road alignment, access and stopping places remain unverified until editorial review.
