Highlights along the way

Kirkstone Pass

The A592 supplies a high main-road crossing above the central Lakes.

Honister Pass

A steep, narrow crossing links Borrowdale with the Buttermere side.

Hardknott Pass

One of the circuit’s most demanding sections, with severe gradients and tight single-track hairpins.

Before you set off

Hardknott and Wrynose have extreme gradients and tight single-track bends. Check vehicle suitability and weather, and split the route if fatigue builds. Check current road closures, vehicle suitability and weather before travel. Driving time excludes stops and live traffic. The route follows through-roads; all visits off the line are independent optional detours.
