Canterbury, Stone Street and Elham Valley Loop

Head south from Canterbury on the Stone Street side of the downs, then turn back through the Elham Valley. This creates a compact contrast between straighter ridge-road stretches and the valley villages.

Highlights along the way

Elham Valley

The return follows the settled chalk valley through Elham and Barham.

Canterbury

Allow a separate city visit for the cathedral and historic centre; the driving line uses public roads around them.

Before you set off

Some connecting lanes are narrow. Keep village speeds low and park before exploring Canterbury on foot. Check current road closures and conditions before travel. Driving time is an estimate without stops or live traffic. Through-road points are not parking reservations; named attraction visits may require a separate walk, detour or booking.
