Highlights along the way

Porlock Hill

The A39 makes a very steep climb above Porlock before crossing the coastal uplands.

North Devon coast

The A399 coastal section links the Combe Martin and Ilfracombe sides.

Before you set off

Porlock Hill has very steep gradients. Check vehicle suitability, current restrictions and any toll-road alternative separately; do not assume the coastal road is easy. Check current road closures, vehicle suitability and weather before travel. Driving time excludes stops and live traffic. The route follows through-roads; all visits off the line are independent optional detours.
