The A939 rises into exposed high country between the Cock Bridge and Tomintoul sides of the Cairngorms.

Before you set off

Snow, wind and fog can close the high road or make it unsuitable. Check Traffic Scotland and the forecast; resort facilities are not assumed open. Check current closures and conditions before travel. Estimated time excludes stops and live traffic. Points are through-road references, not parking. Optional town visits may require a separate detour.
